haha, yesterday night when i was going out to have dinner with my parents near bukit batok east cc, there was this makeshift shelter on a piece of land and there was a stage and many chairs. and there was a banner hanged on the stage, like this:

so my family was like, ooh, a singing competition, and at 7pm, can watch after eating.

we happily finished our food and went to take a seat.

and several contestants came to sing, but mostly in their fifties lah, singing all the hokkien song, only one or two of them sang chinese songs which i haven't heard of before.



this guy sang really well
(ignore the couple in the foreground), like those opera singers but not as exaggerated as them. i bought a mcflurry and was eating it while watching. when i finished, i held on to the empty cup. and this guy came and sing and the whole cup i was holding was practically vibrating. haha, shows how much power he has in his voice.

they all sang ok, like getai.

then the emcee came out and commented on an indian guy who was looking very serious. she said "this is karoke competition, don't look so serious, it's an happy occcasion." so i joked to my mum,, saying," i think this guy thought it was hungry ghost festival." haha. :D

after about 12 of them sang, the emcee came up again. my family guessed that there wer about 20 contestans, but the emcee said there was a freaking 34 contestants! and my mum said:

"wah, so overwhelming response!"

most of the contestans were guys, only two or three females.

we left after the 13th one finished singing.
