so here comes 2011
Saturday, January 1, 2011 @ 2:04 PM

Hmm seems ages since I last typed "blogger.com" on my computer.

So Shanghai. 6 - 14 December. This trip was really really unexpected luh, like my parents just told me on MSN when I was still in Beijing that they were going to Shanghai shortly after I come back from Singapore and whether I want to join them. Didn't want to go at first cause, no offense to Shanghai-lovers, personally I feel that there isn't much to see in Shanghai as compared to Beijing, and I wanted some Singapore time in Singapore you know! Cause 24 - 30 December is spent in Malaysia, that leaves me about 10+ days in Singapore before school starts?!?!

Was supposed to take the plane to Shanghai myself on 8 December cause when my parents booked another ticket for me for 6 December, there weren't any vacancies left. Still remember freaking out to my dormmates about taking a plane all by myself, like what if I don't know where to go to chop my passport, collect my luggage etc etc. And they all consoled me saying that it'll be an awesome experience taking the plane myself. So I was mentally prepared.

But on the evening of 4 December my mum somehow managed to persuade Singapore Airlines and they found a seat for me! Like amazingly man. And so, all I had to do was to transfer my Beijing stuffs to another luggage (cause I was using my Dad's luggage which is too humongous for the Shanghai trip). Hardly any packing needed lol, maybe just taking out some of those extra thick winter clothes.

Okay shall paste my Shanghai diary here but it's incomplete cause I was too lazy to write it during the last few days.

6 December 2010
Watched some Korean Movie on the plane, damn funny and quite good movie! Slept really little, so I was damn tired when we checked into Crowne Plaza hotel, slept all the way till noon. Went out by subway to some Nanjing Road which is near The Bund with family to walk around. Walked till sunset and the Bund is quite pretty in the night! Took more pictures, walked more, and headed back to hotel.

7 December 2010
Woke up really late, at 10am, by the phone ringing cause some housekeeping person was calling to check our toilet. According to parents the toilet bowl flooded the toilet cause water kept coming out of it. Had breakfast in hotel room, and then the toilet bowl flooded again, this time it flooded so much that water seeped out of the toilet and into the room. Called the room service and they took quite some time to come, moreover the first person who came was some manager who brought a camera to take pictures, when he’s supposed to be helping control the ‘flood’ or something. LOL. Mum was quite irritated cause she was trying to clear the water, so we moved to another room. But the room view was horrible cause there was this huge tank outside our window and it was rusty, mum told the guest service counter and they moved us to another room, which view wasn’t that good either, so moved AGAIN. LOL. Like room 0806 to 0717 to 1806 and finally to 2016. And the current room is damn freaking good omg, super super big gosh. Moreover cause my mum ‘complained’ to their manager about how she had to waste her time moving here and there and they should have treat their customers better, the manager treated us to drinks (worth 108yuan) and biscuits LOL. And moreover cause they know there’s 3 of us, the hotel went to the extremes by getting everything in sets of 3 of us. Left hotel only at 2+pm, went to 新天地 to shop, but everything is super high end so didn’t get anything. Ate at this restaurant which was quite affordable and served A LOT of cuisines, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Western, East-Asian. And not bad too! Got a Kimchi Hot Pot and it was super filling. Back to hotel at 8+pm. Weighed myself and was so happy that I lost 5kg in a day, but realized it’s definitely impossible, got my mum to weight and at last, the freaking weighing machine was inaccurate. Hais. Sad.

8 November 2010
Had buffet breakfast , didn’t really eat much, cause I felt super weird eating buffet breakfast alone, and moreover all the other consumers were all businessmen dressed in suits and ties, felt super out-of-place, and the coffee I drank somehow made me more sleepy than awake. Weird. Went to walk around 黄辟南路 area and walked to 孙中山’s residence memorial place, found the thingo quite cool and could relate quite a number of stuffs learn from BSP and BSC’s 社会lessons. Like The 3 Song sisters, 武昌起义, 民主主义 that kind of stuffs. The only pity was we weren’t allowed to take pictures inside. Walked more, and ate at some Japanese restaurant which was having 50% discount on sushis, quite worth it. DIdn’t really do much today, cause most of the time was spent walking and walking and more walking. Went to 2 quite atas bakeries, damn nice!

9 December
Woke up really late, like 10am, and was still sleepy gosh. Took a taxi to 上海科技馆, and the trip was only half a minute long lol, could actually walk. The science centre is way way way better than Singapore’s . Like there’s this animal exhibit and it’s super cool cause all the animal models were displayed in such a way that they look so so real. And there’s a lot of interactive stuffs, like some machine which turns you upside-down, hands-on archery, this mini ride thingo which is like you as a food substance travelling down a human’s digestive system, this thing that rotates you in circle and you have to try to shoot balls into the target, some boxing thing, and TABLE TENNIS! Those machine which auto-serves the ball to you, gosh it’s been ages since I last touched the table tennis bat and used that machine, at first most balls were out, but soon got a hang of it so was quite happy, especially when the last time I played was in P6? Then there was this Robots exhibition which was pretty cool, like a robot who draws a portrait of yourself, and this robot who plays the piano, and you can sing karaoke along with it, DAMN COOL CAN. It really plays the piano, including stepping on the pedal. And another part which is like a health checkup, all the usual height weight blood pressure. The cool part is your reaction speed (where you have to jump and open your legs immediately after hearing a beep sound), your 握力 (which is like clasping something really tight and they measure your strength in kg), and your vertical jump height (they measure the time you are in air when jumping to find out the height), freaking cool luh. And they even have this chart range where you can compare it you are in the low, normal or high category. For height, ironically I’m in the high category wth, bet if I went to some Western country I’ll be in low. Loved the reaction thingo, cause the volunteer who followed us through all the stations was damn shocked by how fast my reaction was, like it was so fast that it was way above the high range haha. And oddly enough my left hand’s 握力 is stronger than my right hand. Love how interactive the science centre it, thoroughly enjoyed myself. :D Watched a 4D show called Haunted Lighthouse which wasn’t scary at all, though I’m kinda afraid of these kind of shows, but watched it cause I wanted to experience the 4D effect and my mum watched it before and said it wasn’t scary at all. Watched another 2 space-related shows which were a bit boring, dozed off during them. :P Stayed at the centre for the whole day till the closing time. Oh and when we purchased the tickets dunno why the lady was so nice and considered me as a student though a 学生证needs to be show. And speaking about this I so regret not bring my 二附中 学生证! I think it can be used in Shanghai! Ahh all the money I’ll save using it! ><

10 December
WAX MUSEUM FINALLY!!! Freaking cool, gosh love how you can actually go super near the wax figures and touch them when you take pictures with them. Saw damn cool figures.. too many to be named, just going to upload the pictures on Facebook. And the ticket we bought included some scary maze thingo which I totally refused to go in though my mum persuaded me too, if the wax figures look so real, let alone those wax ghosts and stuffs. So the next half of the day was spent shopping, got this pastel pink down jacket, quite surprised that I prefered the pink one to the blue. Slept at about 2am, super late gosh, when the next day I’m supposed to wake up at 5am.

11 December
3hours of sleep ftw. Took a bus to Suzhou, first stop was 狮子林, then was a silk factory which was different from last year’s Suzhou immersion I went to. Lunch, then 寒山寺, gosh can remember that place so vividly, including the angle in which I took pictures of the place. Next was some 紫砂博览馆, which was promoting some really cool Chinese teapots, like there’s this teapot, when you put the cup below the opening, the tea will flow out automatically, cause of some magnet in the cup, and you can’t use any other cups to get the same effect. On the way to our next stop, the bus passed by 虎丘, and I still remember that place ever so vividly from last year. Last stop was 北寺塔. Checked into a no star hotel which was not bad, thought it would be much worse, then walked to 观前街, and found the place so so familiar cause I went there for shopping during last year’s Suzhou immersion omg! Still remember the Semir shop, the bookstore, and even the place we had for breakfast! Plus it was open omg, went in to eat 油条and 豆浆, gosh all the memories from last year!

12 December
Took another bus to 周庄, spent the whole morning at

Yea it's obviously not completed. Cause 11 - 13 December my family participated in some 三日游 to 苏州, 周庄 and 南京. Like one day per place. It's quite cool, cause all these places are handled by different tour agencies, so they have to kinda connect to each other to transfer us to a different buses when visiting another destination. I can't really remember where we went to cause like usual tour groups... they just bring you to tons and tons of places within a short time.. can hardly remmeber where I went luh! But what's cool about this trip was that when we were in Nanjing (13 December), it was the day they commemorated those who died during the Nanjing Massacre in World War 2. Quite cool cause we could hear the sirens commemorating it. Took a train back to Shanghai from Nanjing, very different experience. Nanjing train station was qutie horrible... LOADS of people, just super super crowded and packed, but the train was totally different. Really unexpected, like the train we took was SUPER CLEAN, virtually sparkling clean.

And I'm kinda surprised that I took 500+ pictures cause I didn't spam taking loads of pics - my dad was the main camera-person.

Then 10 days in Singapore (14-23 December). Wushu camp was the main thing during this period, though I only went for the first 2 days (21st and 22nd) cause I was sick on 23rd. Felt quite horrible in Wushu cause it had been nearly 2 months since I last trained, all the muscleaches came, expected, and they lasted for quite a few days. D: Could still miraculously remember my tao. And I like panjiaolian wayyyy better than the previous coach. She's on task, and strict but not that strict, and actually talks to us and shares her experiences. And although her PTs are what we dread, I like how consistent her PTs are, unlike the previous coach where we get PTs at the end of SOME trainings. And I like how her PTs focuses on abs. :D

24 December at 3am, I woke up feeling really hot and burning all over, took my temperature and it was 38.3 degrees. Wow. Had to disturb my mum to give me medicine and cool me down using hankerchiefs wrapped with ice. Fever went down to 36 degrees, and my family headed to Malaysia in late morning.

So the whole trip is summarised as such: Bukit Gambang (1 night) -> Lake Kenyir (2 nights) -> Ipoh (2 nights) -> KL (1 night)

Highly doubt you guys know the first two places LOL.

Christmas eve at Bukit Gambang was quite a horrible one, fever went up to a whooping 39.2 degrees cause of the hot afternoon car ride I guess, so slept through the whole Christmas eve afternoon and night, totally missed out on the performances and the fireworks the resort had arranged. Felt horrible the next day, totally no appetite for buffet breakfast (plus I skipped christmas eve dinner), and Lake Kenyir, slept more in the resort, but was feeling a lot better so could watch 101 Dalmations, High School Musical 2, Confessions of a Shopaholic showing on TV LOL.

The resort is quite cool cause the rooms are like individual houses along the banks of the sea, so if you want to go to the lobby you have to call for a buggy service to send you there (it's free!). Went to a waterfall there. Didn't swim in cause I just recovered the water was SUPER COLD.

Ipoh, usual ipoh hor fun which is the loveeee, then the day at Ipoh was spent driving up to Taiping cause Ipoh has nothing much heh. At Taiping was the Perak Museum (which is quite good surprisingly), leaning tower of taiping (it's leaning SLIGHTLY only...), and some lake where we sat this swan boat you have to manually 'cycle' around the lake.

Last night at KL, went to KLCC as usual for a bit of window shopping and movies. Watched Gulliver's Travel in 3D at 9pm, and I wouldn't recommend it. Quite a disappointment cause it's really really lame and the storyline is kinda expected. Expected more from it cause the special effects would be quite cool to play around with. Got back to the hotel really late and headed to Singapore the next morning.. something really unexpected happened, really shocking, but fortunately everyone is okay. :D

So 31st December 2010, last day of 2010. Quite amazingly really, how time flies so fast. Okay shall talk about this day before going on to reflecting about 2010 and blah blah.

Double movie + KBox ftw~
Though it's super costly, coupled with all the popcorn, drinks, nachos, soup spoon, everything amounted to nearly 60-70 bucks PER PERSON. I think? Tried Koi for the first time, and it wasn't THAT fantastic until I would be willing to queue for hours for it, like seriously, HOW FANTASTIC CAN A DRINK GET. Starbucks frappucino is still better! And to be honest, they take far too long to prepare a drink? Like there's hardly any queue, and i don't think there's THAT MUCH orders, but they take forever to prepare a drink. What's with the number system when it's JUST A DRINK. I don't see sweettalk or starbucks doing this number system. Okay I sound agitated lol, not that I hate Koi, just that I don't see how people can waste precious hours queuing for it, nothing to do arhh. (Hopefully I don't get bashed by Koi-fans typing this part).

So movie, Tangled as planned (at 12.45pm) since the ratings for it are EXTRA GOOD AND AWESOME. And it was. :D Plus Bugis Shaw cinema was so super empty, practically had the whole theatre to ourselves luh! Loved the chameleon (forgot his name D:) and the horse (MAX OR SOMETHING?), and I love Rapunzel's eyes. DAMN CHIO. And how Eugene goes on about his nose was drawn wrongly on his wanted posters. Awesome animation luh! Like the best animation movie of 2010?

Then walk around Bugis Junction and started not knowing what to do cause THEY WERE SO MANY PEOPLE in that place, and it was going to rain (well it did in the end) and a certain someone still had severe jet lag. Wanted to go clarke quay/city hall/raffles place but didn't, so walked around Illuma cause there was way lesser people there. Went for another movie at 3.40pm. Little Fockers. NC16. But in a way I'm 16 luh! Cause I'm a March baby, which means I'm 15 years 9 months old, which makes it 15.75 years old, and based on the awesome round-up to the nearest whole number system, I'M SIXTEENNNNNN. But in case the person wouldn't accept this reasoning, I prayed damn hard that she wouldn't ask for our ICs. And she kept asking (at least twice) that "everyone is 16 right???", and I couldn't bear to look at her so I just look at the screen where you choose your seats and nodded my head. So obvious I was lying. BUT SHE PRINTED THE TICKETS ANYWAY SO YAY.

The movie wasn't THAT bad luh, cause some online movie critics really gave horrible comments about it. It's funny.. in a sick way (obviously, else why NC16). Something that you would just watch for entertainment and laughter.

And after the movie.. didn't have appetite for dinner cause of the nachos, and walked more around Illuma but started feeling a bit sian of the place. Then went to see the shopping directory and VOILAAAA I SAW THE WORD 'KARAOKE'. At some place called K Suites. It looks super high end and ex, but the rates per room per hour was okay luh. Smallest room for 10bucks per hour during the afternoon timing. But the compulsory drinks per person was expensive.. cheapest drink (soft drink) at 10 bucks and second cheapest drink (fruit juices) at 11 bucks. Plus all the service tax and GST, it's about 20+ bucks per person. (Depending on number of hours too).

THERE WAS A FREAKING COMP WITH WEBCAM IN THE ROOM LOL. Like includes internet access and games such as Maplestory and Audition haha. Webcammed with Niclau for fun. x) Well KBOX was awesome, although the very beginning I felt weird singing heh.. shy :/ but after that was okay! And singing in a small group is okay luh, not as bad as I thought. Like you get more singing time and more freedom to choose your songs!

By the time we paid for our KBOX, we were practically broke, so no more last 2010 meal at some nice nice restaurant. Instead it was at Subway LOL.

So yay for an awesome last day of 2010~

Okay time for 2010 reflections. Sec 3, and it's supposedly the most difficult year in Nanyang, but honestly I didn't find it THAT crazy or stressful or what, my impression of Sec 3 was that it passed by rather well and smoothly. New class, a crazy one, had no problems with new classmates, schoolwork was fine too. Overall I enjoyed Sec 3 life, though academic life didn't leave much impression in my 15 years of life.

Highlight of 2010 would definitely be BSC trip. (And you!) Close to 6 weeks in a foreign country, something really different, plus all the new friends, new experiences, it was a really memorable 6 weeks.

Academic results were surprisingly okay, the highest percentage I ever had in my Secondary life, like really surprising luh, not boasting here or anything cause my highest percentage will be quite low compared to some others.

Wushu. New responsibility, something that I really didn't expect to fall on me. I didn't mind holding this position, but I highly doubt I would cause like seriously.. I don't even have the basic Wushu capabilities to start of with. And till now I must admit I still ain't used to seeing myself as Vice-capt of wushu. Well I guess time will build that up.

Piano. Got a new piano teacher, a really costly one I must say, but a fantastic one. Waking up at 7am every Saturday was quite tough for me, especially when I'm practically dead tired on Fridays and I usually stay up late too. But it was worth it. Love her way of teaching pieces, how she actually makes the piece literally come alive, and how she can be strict but yet fun. Unfortunately I won't continue under her, cause she's far too costly (don't want to see my mum's hard earn money going to waste), especially when practising time drastically decreases during school term. Oh and she lives super far from me, it's like 30min drive to her house for lessons. Up to now I haven't found a piano teacher (stopped piano since BSC started), and I guess I'll get one near my house soon. Learnt my exam pieces already, but still needs lots of brushing up, plus I've hardly practised it this hols (all the overseas trips), so I honestly have no confidence of taking Grade 7 exams next year (WAIT THIS YEAR LOL. 2011.)

Stil can't register it's 2011, though surprisingly my hand is smart enough to write 1 Jan 2011 on my probability assignment foolscap.

Nothing much to reflect.. or maybe I'm just don't have the reflective mood now. So I'll just go on to 2011. I refuse to write new year resolutions, cause I know most of them won't come true at all, it's more like writing wishes instead. .___. Instead I'll just write a para of what I hope for 2011. (Okay why do I feel like I'm contradicting myself in this para.. like ppl will start thinking ain's resolution = what I hope for 2011 except that one is number format and the other is para.) Okay whatever.

So I just hope 2011 will be one filled with loads of new experiences, different ones, and hopefully I grow more (in terms of personality, thinking etc) during this year. Sec 4. Wow. Seniors man. I don't feel the pressure of being seniors in Nanyang, and honestly I don't really anticipate or worry about anything for 2011 as of now. I know I'll continue to procrastinate sometimes, so hoping that I won't procrastinate is something that it's IMPOSSIBLE. IMPOSSIBLE, for real. I just hope to make the most out of this last year in Nanyang, LAST YEAR IN AN ALL GIRLS SCHOOL (:O). And I'll definitely miss Hongzi cause HCI uniform is like.. so leg revealing... zzz. (Okay this is totally sidetrack). I guess there's not much difference from Sec 3 to 4 luh, just that it's the last year in Nanyang, and Higher chinese O, and GRACES (!@#&*#^$), the big difference comes when it's Sec 4 to JC. Have to wait till then to really feel the impact of growing one year older!

This post is 3968 words long zomg. (I heard the first thunder of 2011 the moment I typed that fullstop, sound effect eh? ^^)

OH AND PEOPLE. To end of my post. Found this from Tumblr. If you're listening to songs on youtube and you want to repeat it but need to keep pressing that replay button when the song ends, just type 'repeat' betweent youtube and .com in the video URL. So it'll be like youtuberepeat.com/(whatever the youtube video code is), AND THE VIDEO WILL JUST KEEP REPEATING OMG. IT WORKS ZOMG. HEAVENLY LUH.
