Finally having a post A's blogpost! I've decided to blog on food HAHAHA have never ever done a food review post ever and this post shall be my virgin attempt! ^^ Brought my loyal digital camera (which looks cui but produced fairly decent pictures) to take every dish we ate at 聚春园's dim sum buffet! It's only $19.80 for weekday buffet lunch (and there's no service charge whoots)
I'm not really a huge fan of dim sum, but the boy has been begging me to go for a dim sum buffet with him since forever so here goes!
口水鸡 Sliced Chicken in Spicy Sauce
Started with a cold dish which was SUPER NICE! Maybe cause I was mega hungry haha but the chicken was really tender and the sauce is super flavorful! Ordered another of this cause it was too good hehe! And it's like damn ex if it's ala carte, one of their most expensive dishes at $8 gasp SO MIGHT AS WELL GET MORE HEHE! That's how you make full use of a buffet ^^
虎皮蒸凤爪 Steamed Chicken Feet
First time trying chicken feets cause I used to be quite disgusted like why would you wanna suck a chicken's feet O.O Tried it cause gm insisted it was damn goooood, so ok it's not bad, really fragrant, not much meat in here so you're mainly sucking fats and skin which is unhealthy but good cause it doesn't fill you too much heh!
虾籽烧卖 Steamed Chicken & Shrimps Dumpling
This was not bad, I really don't know how great a siewmai can taste so yea this is 不错啦！
水晶鲜虾饺 Steamed Shrimp Dumplings
THIS IS YUMMY!!! We got like 3 of this, and gm ate like 3 dumplings for 2 rounds each and gave me only 1 to eat =.= So I ordered a 3rd one and ate 3 of it hehehe! The prawns are super super fresh and omg this is just heavenly la!
流沙包 Salted Egg Custard Bun
Never a fan of custard buns, but this was really really good! It's their Signature Dish, I was quite dubious initially cause I never liked salted egg but you can't taste it in this! It wasn't too sweet too, I guess the salted egg kinda nullified the overpowering sweetness of a normal custard bun so YAY TO THIS!
锅贴 Pan Fried Guo Tie Dumpling
This was quite normal, nothing fantastic. And my throat wasn't feeling too well so we didn't get another of this!
韭王鲜虾肠粉 Steamed Rice Noodle Rolls with Shrimps
This was AWESOME! I felt that there was too little sauce but gm thought it was fine, haha probably cause I like my cheecheongfun to be drown in sauce! MEGA LOVE FOR THIS, especially when it's so pricey in coffee shops for a small roll THIS WAS GOOD, and again, very very fresh prawns so thumbs up to that!
川辣饺子 Pork Dumpling with Spicy Sauce
I'm a hugeeee fan of this dish, would always eat like 6 or 7 out of the 8 dumplings in Crystal Jade cause I LOVE THE SAUCE! For this restaurant, the sauce was good, pretty much the same as Crystal Jade but the dumpling was kind of a let down for me, perhaps cause there was lotsa veggies inside haha! Crystal Jade's dumplings have more meat and somehow more tasty cause there isn't much veggie taste. Thought I would go for another round of this dish but I didn't here so, yep was quite disappointed in this ): I guess it's back to sticking with Crystal Jade for this dish hahaha!
红烧牛腩面 Braised Beef Brisket Noodle
Another Signature Dish, and it was good! The beef is really tender, and the texture of the noodle is consistent and nice to chew! Didn't eat much of this cause I don't like to take carbo in buffet as it fills my stomach. So most of it went to gm and his amazing stomach space.
葱油饼 Shallot Pancake
GM and I miss this like crazy cause it somehow got removed from Crystal Jade's menu, we used to mega fight over it in the past LOL. We saw this on the menu and totally went high HAHA! It's kinda different from Crystal Jade's though, theirs is more fluffy and airy and not so flat like a pancake haha gm says it's supposed to be flat like a pancake though. I kept chanting prata while eating this CAUSE IT'S REALLY LIKE PRATA LOL. Perhaps more buttery version of prata heh! Then there was this huge Indian family who came to this restaurant to ate dim sum (quite cool really, multicultural!), and I was like heh imagine if they eat this they'll be like prata in a Chinese restaurant?!? We had 2 rounds of this, and yep it's really like prata, a nice prata HAHA!
四方饺 Four Seasons Dumpling
Saw this while researching about this restaurant AND IT WAS SO CHIOOOO! Like wow the amount of effort needed to place the ingredients in those small pockets. The taste wasn't that fantastic though, like any regular dumplings. What I like about this is the steam carrot base SO SWEET AND YUMMY HEHE!
鼓汁蒸排骨 Steamed Spare Ribs
This was juicy and tender and fragrant~ Yumyum! Look at the oil in the sauce mmmhmm~
叉烧包 Steamed Barbecued Pork Bun
I have this fear/disgust to buns which is sad cause I never ever order 包s, but this was not too bad I must say! Very light and fluffy exterior and tender meat inside! (:

Desserts time! I'm in loveeee with their almond pudding it's so fragrant and addictive, totally made me suddenly hungrier again HAHA! Had 2 of it, while the mad gm had 3 frigging bowls of his sago with mango and pomelo HAHA! It's quite sour and thus it's understandable that he went crazy over the dessert. The tangyuan was not bad too!
Quite sad that both of us don't fancy durians cause this restaurant have this Signature dessert called Chilled Durian & Fresh Cream Pancake which looks really goooood (if you love durian)!
So that's the end of the food review! Heh hope it wasn't too boring for you guys LOL! The bill summed up to $46.22 after adding tea, towel and 7% GST! It's pretty worth it cause the lunch time is really long, like 1130-1530! And the interior is quite grand too! With waitresses wearing qipaos and chinese instrumental music at the background. Even the entrance to the restaurant has this traditional touch to it!
Their service was awesome too! This nice waiter/manager (idk what he is cause he was wearing like a suit and all) came out to help us take this picture! Been a loongggg time since I wore a dress, while the boy spoils his outfit by wearing sports shoes =.= See how off that pair of shoes look in that picture pfft!
