goodbye 2013
Wednesday, January 1, 2014 @ 3:13 PM

Spending my 1 January 2014 at home just because I don't want to face reality that I'm now paying adult fares with my ez-link card, thus I should at least write something about the very eventful 2013 (and the rest of my JC life) that was just over.

Family

Being the only child and living in a very small family, our house is usually pretty quiet, except when there are random bouts of un-peaceful moments. I'm thankful for this family who have been quietly supporting me during this crazy academic year, not pressurizing me at all and giving me all the freedom and trust to manage my own time properly.

Guan Ming

Thank you for always being there throughout the year, life in Hwa Chong would have been miserable without you. You were my main source of smiles and happiness in JC life, and were the one who made me look forward to every day of school. From being an awesome working partner for CenTaD and eventually getting a Bronze in SSEF despite our rather vigorous and sometimes mundane lab sessions with our mentor, to being a backstage crew and helping you carry your yangqin, everyday with you was a special day and I was blessed to have met you.

MRT GANG

I am really glad to have found this bunch of people that I can really be myself in MAD hiphop. There were less MRT trips back home together in 2013 than 2012, but it's amazing how you guys can make me laugh so easily. Will really miss the times we had during dance practices in RUA and O school, and all those performances together. Hope we'll get to dance together again one day! (:

Chess, Bridge & Othello ExCo

This ExCo group allowed me to know people with diverse personalities that I have never met before, ranging from ultimate high to the eccentric mind-blowing kind. I am pretty sure I wasn't the best vice-president out there, but I'm thankful for this bunch who have taught me many lessons that I wouldn't have gained outside of exco.

12S75

I would have never expected to be in a class with so many bright and talented people, such that our class never fails to be one of the top few ranking for exams. I was initially very happy to be in this class in the beginning of 2012, but sadly this feeling diminished quite quickly. All the politics and cliques experienced in here made me immune to them in the end, but I'm still saddened by this class for I know that after everything there will be slim chances that all of us will meet up as a class. There are awesome people in this class who I regret not getting to know better, and there are not-so-appealing people who I would like to thank for opening my eyes to the not-so-innocent side of people and learning valuable life lessons from them.

Monday CIP Tutoring @ Buona Vista

Every Monday evenings was a joy to me, despite being all shagged from lessons and this being the main cause of me being shagged for the rest of the week in school. I absolutely love this bunch of people, both the team of tutors and the cute bunch of tutees. (It also allowed me to find my only Hwa Chong neighbour that takes the exact same bus and drops at the exact same bus stop as me hahaha!) It's pretty amazing to be with this team of tutors that are so vocal and extroverted, for I'm a pretty quiet person when it comes to group discussions and I'm actually introverted in nature haha. Love post-lessons debrief because of all the flow of ideas, and all the outings we have planned for the kids (botanic gardens and ECP), and the very memorable whole night discussion in a very atas chalet. For the kids, I MISS THEM OMG they are so cute and so happy and they really show me the innocent side of life. (: I hope they will grow up to become happy people, and that they don't become too overwhelmed by the academic rigour in Singapore!

OCIP Nepal June 2013

First ever OCIP in my life and I enjoyed it thoroughly despite living in tents for idk how many days. Unforgettable experience the and OCIP team was awesome. Made so many friends, especially the J1 girls whom I hanged out with mostly during the trip, and the people in Cultural Committee. Honoured to have been the team dance ic, and it was my first time teaching so many people the dance. The Nepalese kids taught me that simplicity in life can still bring much happiness, and the countless of flowers Suresh gave me every single day won't be forgotten. Wouldn't mind repeating this experience all over again. (:

PW Group - Voices of Harmony

Despite our vastly different working styles and personalities and all the ups and downs, I actually really like this PW group and what we did for our PW! Although we didn't get a good grade (screw moderation >( our project was too awesome for the moderators to handle LOL), I'm sure we'll all become successful and accomplished people in the future! (:

So that marks the end of my brief summary of 2013! I'm glad that I brave through 2013 and A levels in one piece. I used to always look up to seniors and go like omg how did they go through A levels they are godly, and now I'm one of them! HAHAHA! Actually A levels ain't as bad as I thought, and it was pretty interesting with hilarious invigilators like one that went "May the force be with you and may the odds be ever in your favour" before every paper haha. (Well maybe in March my view of A levels will change LOL).

2014, sigh, I'm actually more afraid for 2014 than 2013 cause of all the unknows in 2014. Like at least in 2013 there are teachers to guide you step by step towards A levels, but in 2014 all your universities and scholarships and your future is suddenly all up to you, and there's this huge gap of blank till you start university. Sigh hope everything will fall into place in the end, and may March take a longer time to arrive than ever before HAHAHA.
